BRANDYWINE RIVER MUSEUM OF ART

Displayed at the Brandywine River Museum of Art, the "Witness to History" exhibition delves into a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement: the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches in Alabama, which catalyzed the passage of the Voting Rights Act. The exhibit featured 55 photographs taken by then 24-year-old student Stephen Somerstein on March 25, 1965, along with his commentary on the day's events. The exhibit included narrative panels, a video wall, and informative labels integrated throughout the gallery space.
